The Institute of Management Accountant (IMA) has launch its Certified Management Accountant (CMA) program in China. The announcement was made in earlier in a news conference by the two parties in Beijing.
Initial CMA training programs will be launched in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. According to the news conference, IMA¡¯s exams are available in both English and Chinese, and its SMAs (Statement on Management Accounting) are translated and about to be localized and published, all of the learning materials for the CMA program are available in both languages.
Present at the news conference are Mr. Ding Pinghuai, former secretary of The Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants (CICPA) and secretary of China Association of Chief Financial Officers, Mr. Frederick E Schea, Chairman of IMA and Mr. Jim, marketing director of IMA Asia, as well as representatives from the China counterpart.
According to Mr. Ding, China has a surplus of general accountants while advanced financial management professionals are in extremely short supply, estimated shortage has reached 3 million. The import of world recognized CMA designation is a call of national need and beneficial for the career development of accounting professionals. The majority of CMA certification holders work in large multinational companies.
IMA stated that their membership in China continues to grow quickly.Membership doubled in China last year and is expected, with the presence in China, to double again this year.
IMA was founded in 1919 as a non profit organization dedicated to building the profession of management accounting and assisting those in the profession to excel in their chosen profession.From small roots in the US the organization has grown to over 60,000 members in over 130 different countries.
